  • Overview

    Under the guidance of a licensed professional engineer (P.E.) and as a member of an engineering project team, this position will provide technical support in developing and designing various residential and commercial projects.

    Responsibilities

    Here is what you can expect as your tasks and duties in this role:

    • Assist a Project Manager in developing and designing various residential and commercial structures.

    • Consult with Project Manager in the review of detailed plans, specifications, project scope, and design standards

    • Produced detailed, final design plans and specifications in accordance with all federal, state, and local codes/ordinances.

    • Be present and willing to learn from anyone and everyone.

    • Be active in our Pillar Engineering activities – we have lots of fun serving each other, our community, and our clients!

    Qualifications

    Here is a short list of what is necessary to perform effectively in this role:

    • Must be reliable and dependable – your team will count on you!

    • Ability to interact professionally with clients and all levels of employees within an organization.

    • Effective Communication skills, both oral and written, for team collaboration and interpersonal relationships developed with clients and agency representatives.

    • Eagerness to practically apply knowledge obtained from engineering degree coursework with the capacity to thrive in a dynamic work environment, handling multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

    • Basic knowledge of software used in structural design, such as AutoCAD or Revit, is helpful but not required. The use of varying software will be obtained in the work environment.

    • Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university; other degrees considered are mechanical, architectural, agricultural, and environmental engineering.

    • Internship experience in engineering design is preferred but not required.

    • Must be able to work Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, with occasional overtime – sometimes you must be willing to work together and get the job done outside the normal business day.

    Additional Job Details:

    This position requires regular work attendance. The position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule. If eligible, the employee must have a secure, dedicated workspace with reliable broadband internet service. The ideal candidate must be available for weekly meetings and group collaboration via Microsoft Teams and other applications during regular business hours.

  • Overview

    Under the guidance of a licensed professional engineer (P.E.) and as a member of an engineering support team, this position will inspect buildings constructed in the first tier of counties along the Texas Gulf Coast for building code compliance. The ideal candidate will perform physical inspections of residential and commercial properties. This candidate will also be responsible for meeting with contractors, builders, agents, consumers, and professional engineers on building code requirements.

    • Performs physical inspections of residential and commercial properties.

    • Travels on a consistent basis to various regional project sites

    • Prepares and maintains field office progress reports for the Engineering Staff.

    • Responds to verbal and written technical inquiries from staff and clients.

    Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or equivalent

    • Nine months of experience in the construction community. It may include a building inspector, contractor, superintendent, builder, roofer, or in a field relative to the assignment.

    • Must have and maintain a Class C Texas Driver’s License and operate a motor vehicle in a safe and courteous manner in compliance with all traffic laws.

    • Passing the International Code Council Coastal exam or its equivalent within one year from the hire date.

    • Education and experience relevant to position requirements may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis.

    • Open to part-time and full-time employment; work hours and schedule can be adjusted to the student’s schedule.
